Nonprofits to Search for Unclaimed Property on National Nonprofit Day

As National Nonprofit Day approaches on August 17, the Arizona Department of Revenue (ADOR) is encouraging nonprofit organizations across the state to take a few minutes to search for unclaimed property that may belong to them.

Nonprofits are a vital part of Arizona’s communities, yet many may be unaware they have unclaimed assets waiting to be recovered. These can include forgotten bank accounts, uncashed checks, insurance proceeds, and other funds.

Every dollar returned to a nonprofit is a dollar that can be reinvested into the important work they do for our communities. ADOR’s goal is to help nonprofits reclaim the resources that are rightfully theirs.

The process is fast, free, and easy. Nonprofits can visit the ADOR Unclaimed Property website at azdor.gov/unclaimed-property, enter their organization’s name, and search in any states where they operate to see if unclaimed assets are available. Claim forms and filing instructions are also provided on the site.

In addition, nonprofits can search the national database at missingmoney.com to ensure they’ve checked every potential source.
